TreeSisters Letters to the Earth

It’s been an emotionally draining start to 2026, and despite my best intentions, I haven’t yet made or committed to any New Year’s resolutions. In a world facing conflict, ecosystem destruction, and deep inequality, resolutions of past years don’t quite carry the meaning they once did.

This January, TreeSisters partnered with Letters to the Earth to offer a different kind of beginning, one rooted not in personal goals, but in care for the living world. Together, we created a space for gentle, attainable commitments: not resolutions to ourselves, but resolutions to the Earth.

In moments of quiet reflection, with our relationship to Nature at the centre, we wrote promises to the animals, the air, the waters, and, of course, the trees. It was a simple but powerful reminder that each of us still holds the ability to influence positive change through intention, attention, and everyday choices.

If, like me, you could use a reminder of your own connection and care for the Earth, I invite you to take a little time to be with Nature and write your own letter. If you’d like to share your words, you can submit your letter through the Letters to the Earth website (remember to add 'TreeSisters'!), or share it with us on social media. We would love to read what’s in your heart. Perhaps your words will not only strengthen your own commitment to living in service of Mother Nature in 2026, but also inspire others to do the same.

The TreeSisters and Letters to the Earth event was held on Wednesday, 28 January. Ashley Tamburello is TreeSisters’ Head of Impact and Engagement.
