Should Nature Have Legal Rights? - Panel Discussion

As part of London Climate Action Week (LCAW), we asked why does a corporation have legal rights, but a river doesn’t? This event brought together voices from law, science and activism to explore how shifting legal frameworks can help restore our relationship with the natural world.


We were joined by Brontie Ansell (Lawyers for Nature and TreeSisters Board), Mumta Ito (Nature’s Rights), and Dr Rosa Vásquez Espinoza (Amazon scientist and National Geographic Explorer), who each brought powerful insights from their work in ecological justice, Indigenous knowledge, and legal reform.
