Happy New Year. Help Shape this Movement!

Updated: 1 day ago

Dear treesisters,

As we step into 2026, I want to begin with well wishes for this new year, as well as sincere gratitude for your presence in this community.

Thank you for your generosity, your courage, and the many important and consistent actions you take for our world. Whether you joined us yesterday or years ago, whether you are able to give or not, you have chosen to stand with us for a future where people and Nature thrive together. That choice matters.

As I look back over the last few years, it is clear how turbulent this time has been. Many charities have not survived. There were moments when we weren't sure we would either. We are a smaller team now, but rooted and focused, moving with intention and guided by the values that have always held this movement together.

Still, I will not pretend that the wider picture is wholly positive. We are witnessing attacks on democracy, human rights, and the living world at a scale that can feel relentless. Algorithms shape and distort much of what we see, our economic and social systems are failing both people and planet, and vast wealth and influence remain concentrated in the hands of a few determined to protect the status quo. Is it any wonder that so many of us feel exhausted, overwhelmed and disheartened?

Yet every time my own hope flickers, I look to this community. I look to the women restoring land against the odds. To our partners advocating for the Rights of Nature. To our team working with dedication and heart. And to you, our global network of treesisters, choosing connection and care in a world that so often pulls in the opposite direction. It is here that I find my hope restored. Not in wishful thinking, but in action, solidarity and the willingness to believe in something better.

  Looking Ahead

As we move into this new year, our focus is clear.

  • We are strengthening our Nature connection offerings, because healing our relationship with Nature is at the heart of any long-term change.

  • We’ll continue to advocate for the Rights of Nature, working at the heart of a growing movement calling for systems that honour life rather than exploit it.

  • And we will continue supporting ethical, women- and community-led restoration, including exploring new nursery-level grants that help partners take their first steps in regenerating their local landscapes.

Upcoming Events

The year ahead begins with meaningful opportunities to come together.

All of these events are free to attend and we hope you can join us.

Help Shape This Movement

We also want your help in shaping this next chapter. Your voice matters. Your reflections help guide our decisions and ensure our programmes meet the needs of this community. We would greatly appreciate you sharing your thoughts in this short TreeSisters Community Survey. To say thank you, our partners The Experimental Perfume Club are giving away two Creation Sets (valued at £100 each) so you can compose your own personal fragrance at home. Fill in the survey for your chance to win! Please note: this giveaway is limited to participants in the UK and US only.

Ultimately, this year is about weaving courage, creativity and collaboration. No single organisation, community or person can heal the Earth alone. But together, we can shift culture, restore land, nurture belonging, and imagine a future rooted in care. Thank you for walking this path with us.

May the year ahead bring hope in action, renewed connection and flourishing forests. With warmth and gratitude,

Georgina
