Below, we’ve gathered some FAQs to guide you through the campaign.
What is the Big Give Earth Raise Match Fund?
The Big Give Earth Raise Match Fund is a campaign that doubles donations to charities working on environmental issues through match funding. It's a collaboration between the Environmental Funders Network (EFN) and The Big Give. The campaign aims to increase funding for environmental organisations, incentivise public giving, and raise the profile of philanthropy. TreeSisters are taking part in this campaign and are grateful to The Big Give Trust for providing match funding.
How is the Big Give Earth Raise different from monthly donations?
Our incredible network of monthly givers provides vital, ongoing support that sustains TreeSisters' work all year round. These regular gifts help us plan ahead, grow our impact, and remain resilient in the face of change.
The Big Give Earth Raise Match Fund, however, is a special, time-limited campaign running for just seven days, from 12pm (midday) 22 – 29 April (BST). During this period, any additional gift you make through the campaign page will be matched, meaning it will be doubled by a champion funder, making your impact even greater.
Where does the money go?
£15,000 – Restoration projects implementation, management and evaluation
£3,000 – Developing learning and engagement materials to support Nature connection
£2,000 – Towards our core running costs, including fundraising, communication and financial management
Funds received during the campaign are restricted to the information outlined above and in the application until the charity has hit its target. If a charity receives additional online donations after hitting its target, these funds may be unrestricted. Charities may use the campaign to raise unrestricted funds as long as it meets the eligibility requirements.
Is the Big Give Earth Raise only open to UK donors?
No. Donations through the Big Give can be completed from anywhere in the world, however, gifts must be made in GBP. The Big Give cannot provide a tax receipt for US based donors, although they are aiming to make this a possibility in the future.
Can I get a tax receipt?
Unfortunately, as the Big Give Earth Raise is UK based and only accepts donations in GBP, we cannot provide a tax receipt.
Can I contribute to the Big Give through my monthly donations?
Only donations made through the Big Give Earth Raise platform during the campaign period of 12pm (midday) 22 – 29 April will be matched.
What payment methods are accepted?
Donations can be made using a debit/credit card and Apple Pay and Google Pay. The following card types are accepted: Mastercard / Visa / Maestro / Switch / Solo / Delta / American Express. Please note for international banks, an additional transfer fee may be applicable.
UK supporters can also donate by bank transfer through the Donation Funds system, although there are some additional administrative requirements - please contact support@treesisters.org as soon as possible if you would like to donate via this route.
If you are a user of a UK-based Donor Advised Fund (DAF), such as Prism The Gift Fund, please contact your account manager, who should be able to make donations for you using this service.
For CAF account holders, please contact your account manager as soon as possible to organise a donation. This process takes longer due to the bank's processing times.
Can donors from outside the UK use the Donation Funds system?
At the moment the Donation Funds system only supports UK bank accounts. For donors that do not have a UK bank account, they will need to use a debit or credit card to make their donation. We have raised this with Big Give and hope to have an option for international donors in the future.
