Has there ever been a more powerful time to be alive?

Have we ever felt so called to give our gifts and really discover who we are and what we're capable of? Life is asking for us to astonish ourselves, and together it's time to rise...

Around the world, women are rising

Welcome to TreeSisters, and thank you for finding us! We hope this this is the start of a glorious shared journey of self discovery and audacious, love filled creativity on behalf of life. TreeSisters is an experiment that holds us all. May you find belonging, inspiration, courage, celebration and beauty within this sisterhood.

We find ourselves facing a planetary threshold that asks us to transcend our old known ways of being in order to rediscover ourselves. It's the greatest evolutionary gauntlet ever laid down for our species, and womankind has a crucial role to play.

Feminine consciousness, wisdom and leadership are vital ingredients in humanity's evolution into a Restorer Species and we all have a role to play. We're all discovering what becomes possible when we bring our hearts, creativity and generosity together on behalf of the trees.

Can we help reforest the tropics within 10 years? We think we can, we have a plan, and it involves you!

Are you a TreeSister?

Orange strip"TreeSisters is permission to dream, to get radical, to get real, to put self doubt to one side and prepare to astonish yourself. When you let Her into your heart, prepare to overflow with outrageous creativity ~ and a feeling that you'll never quite be the same again."

~ Clare Dubois, Founder of TreeSisters

A treesister is a woman who plants five powerful choices into the core of her being. These choices underpin every element of TreeSisters. They are the soul of our shared mission. They are why we do everything that we do. They are the seeds of a Restorer Species that consciously seeks to strengthen relationship with Soul, Self, Other and Nature as a primary purpose of being human.

I am a TreeSister because I choose...

white-handsTo be awake to the world; willing to face reality as it is, seeking truth with humility and listening for the clearest knowing within my heart and soul for how and who I can be on behalf of life

white-handsTo look for the magnificence of every woman I meet; opening my heart to move beyond judgment and comparison, to discover the 'more' that we can be through authentic togetherness

white-handsTo deepen my connection with nature; as the root of my own instinctual nature so that I can learn to feel and follow the voice, wisdom and cycles of my body as teacher and guide

white-handsTo live in ways that honour and restore the sacred abundance of all life; through the choices I make and actions I take, specifically restoring and protecting the global forest a little more every month by reallocating funds for tropical tree planting

white-handsTo unleash my courage, share my gifts, shine my light and direct my passion towards our emergence into a restorer species; I serve life by celebrating the true miracle of being alive

Do these seeds belong in your heart? If so, we invite you to join us. When you sign your name to these choices you will then be invited to make your monthly pledge for the trees. Giving monthly for the trees is literally part of the air that every treesister breathes.

Women-praying-for-the-earthBecoming a TreeSister
is the start of a journey...

Treesisters are women taking a stand for trees. Together, we are discovering how to give our gifts and rise as a force of nature on behalf of nature. In sisterhood, we realize that we are not alone in our longings and dreams and that our togetherness is vital.

By listening deeply - to the earth, ourselves, and each other - we can bring through a different consciousness and quality of leadership that can help our species transform and rediscover ourselves as restorers of life.

Happy-Eden-WomenBeing a treesister is a way of life. When we feel this deep in our bones, our lives naturally begin to change, in the choices that we make and the way that we decide to show up in the world. This behaviour changing work is core to the ignition of the reforestation revolution we stand for, and it is speaking up for the voiceless.

Your monthly membership will fund the planting of mangroves in Madagascar, forest corridors in Brazil, agro-forestry in India and watershed restoration in Kenya. We will also be adding more projects to our portfolio as we grow in 2017. Each of our projects serve their local communities and ecosystems in ways that make the gift of giving even more meaningful.

Deep-in-the-rainforest2"Scientifically, practically, and emotionally, the work and purpose of TreeSisters is one of, if not the most, significant initiatives that can be undertaken by humankind to address the future of civilization. The world's greatest land-based stores of carbon reside between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn in the form of forests. Their restoration is critical to reverse climate change and create a humane and liveable future. Can women accomplish something that has failed governments and agencies for decades? I not only think so—I believe it may be the only way it can be accomplished." ~ Paul Hawken, author of Blessed Unrest and Project Drawdown

Embracing Life through the Forests and the Feminine

Tree-Roots

Why trees?

The forests need us now more than ever.

According to the World Resources Institute, more than 80 percent of Earth's original forests already have been destroyed.

The effects of deforestation are vast. Devastating loss of species (seventy percent of the Earth's land animals and plants reside in forests) and soil fertility, loss of stream, rivers and rainfall, loss of protection against storms, tidal surges, drought and flood, even fish stocks (in the case of mangroves) all of which reflect in loss of liveable lands and livelihoods. Remove trees and life literally moves out, and the cycles of poverty hit women the hardest.

When we let the truth sink into our bones and let our hearts crack open, we feel ourselves being called into our sacred feminine roles as protectors, restorers, and life givers for future generations.

Generations2Why women?

The Feminine Principle is the receptive, relational, intuitive, instinctual, connected, feeling side of ourselves that knows itself as part of nature. This radically undervalued and suppressed side of us is our gateway to nature's intelligence, solutions and ways of being that will seek to serve life as a norm. Whilst this consciousness resides in everyone, women are uniquely wired to feel and follow natural law through the ebb and flow of our own bodies.

Women are naturally powerful and we know it - especially when we are together. TreeSisters is a place where women are exploring how to tap the depths of our knowing, how to create powerful togetherness, how to belong and to feel ourselves as part of life, discovering our truth and giving directly to nature herself.

We invite you into this circle of giving on behalf of life.

Rainforests are one of the most effective solutions to climate change that we have

Rainforest facts

Leaf IconMore species of plant and animal live in the rainforest than any other land habitat. Only a small percentage of Earth's land surface is rainforest, but a large portion of the animal and plant species live there.

Leaf IconMore than 25% of the medicines we use originate in rainforest plants. An estimated 70% of the plants that are used to treat cancer are found only in the tropical rainforests on the planet.

Leaf IconThe world's forests absorb around a third of manmade carbon emissions, helping to moderate global temperature rise. Carbon dioxide literally is tree food.

Leaf IconA tree can absorb as much as 50 pounds of carbon dioxide per year, and can sequester one ton of carbon dioxide by the time it reaches 40 years old.

Leaf IconForests help improve water quality by extracting pollutants through tree roots and by limiting erosion and runoff through their floor and their stabilizing roots system.

Brazil-photoOur Planting Projects

Brazil

In Brazil, farming and development has stripped and fragmented the Atlantic forest to 7% of its original scale. Where we're planting it's down to 3%, but still it is home to jaguar, ocelots (small wild cats), puma, the endangered black lion, tamarin monkey and over 100 species of trees - including three on the red list. Your trees will help endangered jaguars to re-populate by giving them a safe place to live. Our planting partners WeForest have already set up seven Jaguar Conservation Units.

Your trees are helping women get out of debt and poverty, because of the tree planting they are doing with Eden Reforestation Projects. This means that their children are able to receive an education, and some women are able to save up and start their own mico-businesses, too. The mangrove trees being planted are powerful carbon sequesters, soil stabilizers and tidal buffer zones as sea levels rise and storms intensify, preventing yet more precious top soil from eroding into the oceans. These 'sea trees' also provide nursery habitat for countess species of fish that provide income and food for the desperately poor communities that Eden serve.

India-PhotoIndia

After the Tsunami that devastated coastal communities on Tamil Nadu in 2004, a tree planting movement began. We have partnered with Project GreenHands to support the education of farmers to turn towards agro-forestry - were trees become an integral 'crop' in a poly-culture approach combining animals, crops and trees. In temperatures regularly over 40 degrees where rains fail and earth literally becomes as hard as concrete, trees provide shade, soil fertility, and moisture. This is vital to farmers and their crops of seeds, nuts, fruit, medicines, herbicides, oils and more.

Kenya-photoKenya

In Kenya, one of the countries most affected by deforestation in Africa, your trees will help to conserve Kenya's highland forests, which are known as 'Water Towers' for the vital role they play in conserving the country's rivers, lakes and drinking water. Women involved in these planting projects are also trained by the International Tree Foundation in new business development skills and forest friendly income generating activities, such as bee keeping, aimed at conservation of the forest and creation of stable income streams.
