Wisdom Circle: Feminine Nature Based Leadership Part One

As I write that title I'm smiling. Week before last in the Feminine Leadership in Philanthropy call I found myself saying 'no two women are the same.' It follows then that how we experience and internalize our own lived definition of feminine nature, Feminine Nature Based Leadership and Feminine Nature Based Philanthropy will all be different. Even within the TreeSisters team I know that we would all answer the question in the title, in different ways.

That said, I'll share what I meant by 'Feminine Nature Based Leadership' when I first coined that phrase because it is core to what TreeSisters is bringing to the world, and then this can stand as a defined patch of ground out of which the many different green shoots of its personalized expressions can spring into blossom.

So, 'Feminine Nature Based Leadership' was a term created to describe the enhanced intelligence, intuition, wisdom, intentionality, courage, authority and creativity that arises through women when we are more consciously connected to nature as the root of our power and knowing (our own feminine nature) And yes - that suggests that there is a completely different quality and experience of ourselves, our gifts and capacities that becomes available to us when we open our energy fields, awareness and intelligence to merge with the majesty and miracle of the living world and the limitlessness of the cosmos that holds us all.

tamara phillips 14Really though, how can that not be so? How can we not be woven into creation as completely as any bird, fish, mammal, tree or insect, and so lived by that same intelligence that creates us all? And doesn't it make sense that if we were to shut down the sensory capacities that give us that felt experience of belonging to all of life as part of life, that we would naturally feel separate, insecure and isolated? It's not a great leap then from experiencing our insecurity in the face of nature, to reacting by becoming the bully of nature, and that is what we have become and normalized as a way of being in relationship to the rest of life.

What we have come to experience as normal is I think profoundly abnormal, which is why we show up as destructively as we do to all other forms of life, as if we are not intimately connected to every single one of them. Somehow we have been taught to perceive and so experience ourselves as separate. But it's not our natural state. Our behaviour points to disconnection in the same way that reconnection can and does create an entirely different consciousness and reflected reality.

That is one of the reasons why I coined the term in the first place; to find words that would carry an invitation by throwing open a door and shining a light into an internal territory of woman that has been off limits for too many of us for way too long. That territory literally holds the power of wild nature as an authentic root of our own intrinsic knowing, felt wisdom and potential leadership.

So yes, all human being are nature evolving through our unique human consciousnesses. And, women are wired in such a way as to give us different capacities that reflect the Feminine Principle of life.

The Feminine has a sacred place next to - not above or below - the Masculine, and the two of them are complimentary when in their intrinsic roles (yin/yang - night/day - receptive/expressive) And (and this is why I finally acquiesced to creating TreeSisters specifically for women when all of us need to be reforesting our world) the Feminine comes first, because our relationships define our actions. How can we know what to do, unless we feel how things really are, especially regarding the state of the world?

Feminine nature is indivisible from nature. In its healthy, respected, connected state reflects a state of union or communion, of deeper felt relationship that cares about the 'whole', the 'all,' the interconnected, woven miracle that is the tapestry of life. To dismiss the Feminine is to dismiss life, and the product of that shows up in almost every action and gesture of our normalized consumer culture.

This is why Feminine Nature Based Leadership is actually crucial. To dismantle our bully consciousness, normalize a new culture of care for life and restoration as a primary human activity we HAVE to first rebuild relationship with nature, which starts with reconnecting to our own nature as part of nature. That is the Feminine Principle embodied. That is the Sacred Feminine back on Her throne with Her head held high and her heart centred voice crying out to the hearts of all beings that life is a miracle and that we are all part of that miracle.

That is the texture of what I am calling Feminine Nature Based Leadership and that voice exists within all of us, and is needed now.
